Seed Collection - The Bigger The Better

Hey dudes check out my #seeds! There is definitely something in having a diverse #strain collection. Today I would like to share my gene collection - 41 seed strong. Some of the seeds I have for years and just waiting for the perfect opportunity to germinate. Your desk drawer is going to be just fine to store them not longer for a year; It is very important to store them in a refrigerator (avoid freezing temperatures) if storing for a longer period of time.

-from #regular over #feminized to #automatic

When having so many different strains it is always a dilemma - what to grow? So very often I go and buy something new and make my problems bigger. Thankfully good seed vendors always throw in a freebie or two which makes decisions even harder. Ah, these sweet sweet problems. Here are all the seeds I have and a little bit of #educational information about them (borrowed from the internet).

The Bulldog Seeds - Original Afgan - regular seeds

Indica/Sativa: 100% Indica
Flowering Time: 8-9 Weeks
Harvest Outdoor: mid. October
Yield: Heavy Yield

An original “landrace” strain native to the mountains of Afghanistan, Afghani is a pure #indica prized for its potency and sturdy genetics. Perfected and balanced over centuries by both natural selection and human cultivation, this vintage variety was likely brought to the west before Afghanistan banned cannabis production in 1973 under pressure from the Nixon administration. Afghani has been used to breed popular child strains like Northern Lights and Blueberry, both Cannabis Cup winners. In the frenzied market for new crossbred strains, this building block strain - also known as Afghani #1 - can be harder to come by. The THC content is high at 15 to 20% and the CBD level is 0.6%.

Barneys Farm

Barneys Farm - Red Diesel - feminized

Considered to be one of the ultimate mood boosters out there, Red Diesel will send you sky high with good vibes. Frequently served in Amsterdam’s coffee shops, this balanced 50/50 strain by Barney’s Farm offers a complex flavor, an instant burst of energy, and quite a case of the munchies.

Crossing NYC Diesel and California Orange, this beauty gives users a nice hit of THC with an average of 19%. Named for its appearance, nugs of this strain have a red tint that’s cast over a minty green and they’re full of bright orange and red pistils. Blending characteristic diesel smells with an earthy vanilla scent, many love both the aroma and taste of Red Diesel. Its flavor takes on more of a citrus tone with a pretty dank aftertaste. Many report an intense throat hit when inhaling, but overall it’s a strain that’s flavorful and pungent.

Barneys Farm - Peyote Critical - feminized

Barney's Farm is pushing the envelope once again in bud density, size, and resin production. Crossing Peyote Purple with Critical Mass has produced a quickly maturing indica dominant hybrid. This strain will require little maintenance. These plants produce plenty of very thick branches and have a good tolerance to nutrient and environmental stresses. The flower clusters are so incredibly dense that humidity indoors or outdoors will need attention.

Otherwise, Peyote Critical is very hardy and is not generally susceptible to disease or pest problems. Netting or stakes must be used. Extended colas are typical as the plants more than double in size during the flowering phase. Tinged red and redolent of hashish and flowers the fist fat buds are ready after 60 days. Genetics that have taken decades to develop have coalesced into this weighty and resinous contemporary blend. The Kush ancestry has made its stamp in the growth patterns of this plant. Also, in the effects. Strength and length are there. Spicy and uplifting, body calming and focusing. Reminiscent of the classics blended into the parent strains.

The essence and flavor of Pineapple Chunk is immediately obvious. Its aroma of earthy Cheese X Skunk is backed up by a secondary scent of Pineapple. The taste is delicious and unique. Dutch Passion seed co. - Glueberry O.G. - feminized

A good example of potent USA genetics is Gorilla Glue. This strain was the successful result of crossing Chem's Sister with Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel. These parents ensured the connaisseur taste and high of this amazing strain. Another great USA variety that probably most growers have sampled by now is one of the many variations of OG Kush. With it's distinctive taste and mysterious heritage, it has already filled many grow rooms with extremely potent product. The master growers of Dutch Passion have crossed these two magnificent strains with each other and crossed the result with our longtime classic Blueberry. The outcome of this beautiful cross with XL yields and an average height of 1.5/2 m is called Glueberry OG.

Sensi Seeds - Sensi Skunk - #feminized

The perennial favourite Skunk #1 was infused with a secret, super-sweet parent plant of outstanding potency to create Sensi Skunk - a uniform, reliable, deliciously sticky strain producing larger calyxes and shorter pistils than Skunk #1. European Skunks are often noted for being sweeter and less pungent than their North American counterparts and Sensi Skunk takes this variation to new extremes with an attention-grabbing sugary-citrus Skunk bouquet that’s uniquely different from the regular Skunk funk. Quick to bloom, thick-budding and potent enough to surprise even a jaded smoker, Sensi Skunk is also very forgiving when growing and flowering, making her a strain that is actually quite difficult to mess up.

Atomic Seeds - Atomica - Autoflowering feminized

Latest cannabis tests made to an Atomika sample show a 23% of THC concentration rate, a high THC quantity. Atomika is a cannabis plant with a large moho and plague resistance. This characteristic make this cannabis plant an ideal specimen for indoor growing where this strain grows strong and resistance so that it will be very easy to get fruitful harvest. Few sativa strains can be proud of having a flowering time as short as this and such psychoactive high effect.

#Sativa dominant
Tall growth with high production

Royal Queen Seeds - Northern Light - Automatic

Northern Light Automatic gives a generous harvest and might be one of the highest-yielding autoflowering strains available. Growing to a height of around 90-120 cm, it is quite a large plant for an autoflowering variety, but this is matched in its yield. Outdoors in Spain some plants have produced upto 200 g, though around 90 g is the average in good conditions indoors.

Much like the original Northern Lights, our Northern Lights Automatic has a nice, sweet taste and a comfortable physical effect. It’s the same classic strain, just with an autoflowering twist. Which also makes it a great plant for medical users.

When you just imagine how much bud can these seeds give; or even produce some nasty genetics mix with regular afghan...

My question to you is: What strain to grow next? Which would be your favorite?

Pick your seeds carefully, let's hope I made your choice at least a bit easier! Genetics is the key.

p.s.-Hope this wasn't boring as hell.

I see you are a fan of Barney's farm. All those strains sound amazing but red diesel from barney's farm especially cought my attention. Being a barney's fan myself. I have their grinder and a I love their papers. Best I had.
The selection of seeds is incredible. You should open a park of cannabis plants.
Atomica doesn't sound bad as well.

·

Well, you can say I'm a fan of some Barney's strains - but they are one of the best. As you can see slowly I am going through all the breeders in search of that perfect seed :) Never had their grinder, but papers are top (roaches included) and what I love most about them is a number of free seeds you get when dealing with them constantly.

I love a good classic so that Northern Light is tempting. Just amazing nowadays you can get NL as freebie too. But given the collection, I would also go for a Red Diesel.

That’s thousands in weed you have there in your fridge! 🤤

Although that Gluegerry OG is tempting too.

·

Yeah feels good to have them. Even in the case of the apocalypse; im covered. Weed is very convertible commodity :) Thanks for the suggestions, I'm still hanging between 3 strains Red Diesel is one of them...

Great choice of genetics, you need help testing all those strains? ;-)
The one I really love to try from Humboldt seeds is the Blueberry Muffin, can´t wait to get my hands on a cut

·

Flowers only in 45 days! Wow! Amazing, looks like it has loads of medicinal properties.

That Atomika is quite enigma. Couldn't find genetic background or anything beside THC content and flowering time. I have one seed too and it itches me so I'll start it in next grow.
Nice selection btw...

·

Cool man, I'm interested in what comes from it. Yeah, these Spanish breeders are a bit how should I put it - not giving a fuck when it comes to information. So you are turning to the dark Autoflowering side again?

·
·

I miss genetic background, I like to know who parents were... Actually just found it haha, Jack Herrer and Northern Lights are parents... Excellent genetics, now I'm even more excited....

Thanks for that man, I've corrected it in the post! Great news indeed! Heritage is very interesting.

Awesome!

What a great collection, and thank you for sharing the photos and information. So many strains and opportunities. :D

·

Thanks Doug! Well compared to some people I know my seed collection would be described as a few seeds :)
And I haven't even scratched the surface of all the strains I want to have and grow, so I'm thinking its time to get a move on it. Hording man :D

·
·

Have you looked at micro growing? Your oldest seeds are not getting younger, I would be wanting to do seed runs to preserve the genetics.

I've done seed runs with 100w of SILs (screw in led) in small spaces. :) If you're waiting on a big space and equipment, take a look. You'll be amazed how many seeds you can get from short plants. ;)

Make sure you collect, dry, label in infinite detail, and freeze your pollen. 10 years from now, you'll be so glad you preserved the pollen from all these strains. :)

Should you find some super stable genetics in there, fem a dozen females and keep that pollen as well. :) So easy to do, such a waste more people are not aware. DIY Femmed Pollen/Seeds Using STS

Keep BEing Awesome! :D

·

These are actually great ideas, I'm going to get through your guide and read on the web a lot about it - the thing is that I have only Afgan regulars for pollination so It is going to have to wait a bit. It's shit that amazing content like this is not indexed and easily available.

Kind Sir, awesome you are!

What am I talking about facepalm you have tons of genetics right in front of you. LOL

Personally, I would pick a cross I wanted and start with those two strains first.

Without plant restrictions, this is what I would do.

Grow the plants from the one strain.
Top them and clone the tops, so you know which ones are male and female
Re-veg the clones
Top the seed plants again and clone the cuttings
Take 1-2 clones of each, begin reversing the females and put them in flower
Collect and store the pollen from all the males and all the females
Flower the female seed plants
Mix some of the pollen from all the plants and dust the seed plants when the pistils are thick and full, but still 6 weeks from harvest
Save the rest of your pollen for years down the road.
Save the seeds, you've just done an open pollination run... with additional feminized pollen as well

Repeat with the other strain for the cross, only this time you have pollen from the first strain and can make your first cross breeding. :)

These seeds you've made in the cross, these are the ones you'll pheno hunt through and stress test. You'll have a larger than average female to male ratio, and you'll have plenty of plants to stress test for hermie tendencies.

You'll also have a ton of pollen for personal use and sharing, for years to come. :) Personally, I'm going to need a small chest freezer in a few years for my collection. LOL :D

·
·
·
·

Thank you. :)

Look around, you may find pollen available you can use. Afgan has been used in a lot of crosses, and you want to work with stable strains. :)

I'll keep posting. ;)

Nice dude, now Il be busy for next 2 years :). Im reading genetics sections of my weed books and try to know it as much as possible befor trying it out, but as we all know, nothing is like a bit of practical work. Thanks for the detailed guide as well! Cheers!

Awesome! :D

Awesome collection bro, I would love to get my hands on some of those seeds. We can buy shit in Australia, thanks for sharing bong on bro. :-)

·

The best breeder from the planet lives in Australia(Nevil Schoenmakers) he is the creator of The: white widow, critical mass, super silver haze, Neville Haze, and soooo many others, and there is a quite big crew of breeders there experimenting with Sativa strains over there, look for them and am sure you will find seeds we will never get in EU ;-)

·
·

Member of the infamous Haze Brothers! Great story.

·
·
·

Neville was not part of the Haze bro´s, he bought the Haze bros seeds Sam Skunkman brought to Amsterdam from California. What he did is to work the Haze bro´s genetics and made a selection and breed a lot of strains out of that, he is considered the father of modern cannabis genetics. His aim has always being to be sure that the seeds he sold were totally stable, so you could grow 100 plants from seeds and not having many differences between plants . Last thing I heard from him is that he got a job in a major Aussie/Singapore pharma company and that he is working on a project called the grial, basically, they are crossing the Haze males with all sorts of Sativa landraces trying to produce the most potent and stable Sativa strains for commercial use. ;-)

·
·
·
·

Fuck, I was sure he's one of the haze bros. Maybe the fact he started Greenhouse Seed company with Arjan and work with haze bros made me think that. However, he's a super important character in cannabis history. Thanks for clearing up the facts.

·
·
·
·
·

Guess we are both wrong then, good thing that we have our green hand man to straighten the story out! Thanks man.

·
·
·
·

Thanks for correcting me man, I got my facts jumbled up a bit there, too many people named Neville in the cannabis industry. :) for sure I will follow up on him and his story. Cheers!

·
·

Thanks for the info bro, very interesting. I didn't know any of this. Bong on bro. :-)

·

What, no seed down under? wtf? There has to be a breeder out there.. What about http://aussieseeds.com/
https://www.australianseedbank.com/
https://oceania.gyo.green/
There is plenty dude; they even ship from Aus so no border crossings and all.

·
·

Cool man, thanks for the links, I didn't know about these. I will be doing a bit of research on these sites mate, bong on bro. :-)

It's absolutely crazy how pricey seeds are. Do you know why that is?

·

Well, the production of feminized seeds is a very long and expensive process (laboratory conditions, phenotype selection, gene stabilization and so on), so in my oppionon, they are not that expensive - you have amazing deals out there from less known breeders 10 seeds for 40$ on amazing older strains and stuff like that. Instead of buying a 100$ bag of weed you can get 5-10 high-quality seeds that will give you tons of weed. It is well worth the money in the end, at least in my eyes.

·
·

Stable feminized seeds are a long process, but this is really in the breeding and selection part and not the feminzing. Breeding a strain with strong resistance to hermi stressors can take a decade or more, depending on the starting material. When the genetics are stable, you can reverse a clone/branch/plant and have pollen in 6 weeks.

This is my post on How to Feminize Cannabis using STS

:D Enjoy!

·
·
·

So Silver Thiosulfate Solution is working exactly same like Colloidal Silver?

·
·
·
·

Correct, they both introduce silver into the plant. The silver inhibits the production of ethylene, and without ethylene you get male flowers forming. :)

·

I don't agree. If you shop around you can get really good deals. Also depends on what you are looking for. Buy regulars and make your own seeds if you find seeds to be too pricey.

·

one regular seed of the original amnesia hy-pro cost 1900€,that is dear!!

·
·

I think there's some other crazy expensive seeds like fruit pebbles or something, no? Pretty cool but prohibitively priced 🤷‍♂️ Clones would be cool 👌

·
·
·

i don´t know why, but Sativa strains are very hard to find in clone form, i am not surprised since growing a plant that takes 16 to 24 weeks to flower is a huge pain in the ass, so I can imagine keeping a healthy mother must be difficult, especially when these plants can be very tall, not suited for indoors

Them northern lights are screaming grow me 😁

·

Nice choice man, you can never go wrong with northern, this pack will have to wait for some outdoor because I don't want autos indoor any more; they take too much time with me to grow properly big. I would ship these out to you but shipping will be more expensive than just to buy seeds in a shop. :)

That’s a lot of grass!

·

Shitload dude, a shitload. :)

That is quite the assortment you picked up. Some strains I can't wait to see.

·

Yeah, I'm quite proud on the collection, deff continuing with feminized, have a favourite for next round, but wanted to hear other opinions.

Those free seeds make my life so hard hahaha. I oreded blue dream autos for the next crop and they sent a free Zkittlez auto too but I only want to run 1 auto at a time so now im stuck with a true dilemma lol

·

Hahahaha Yeah they always make a mess in your head hahaha. Just grow both - it fell from the sky anyway. That is how I look at it :) And that is the reason I have few extra plants in my tent.

Cool collection man! Do you worry about the temperature of seed storage? I was reading on a seed website that they keep them at like 8'c

·

If the seeds are going to be sprouted within a year it's OK to keep them in your desk drawer on room temperature hidden from moisture and light. If you plan to keep them longer than a year just store it in the fridge on constant temperature (8c would be ideal but anything from 5-10 is going to be ok); they are god for minimum 10 years like that. It is possible to freeze them but then you are going to lose a lot of seeds - around 50% or more - some people condemn it claiming that cell walls in seeds are freezing and rupturing, while others claim that the strongest genetics survive - so its a good thing. Both make sense to me - who is right I don't have a clue, all I know I'm not trying it out on my seeds - free or not. :)

·
·

some people condemn it claiming that cell walls in seeds are freezing and rupturing, while others claim that the strongest genetics survive - so its a good thing. Both make sense to me

It makes sense very much. Freezing turns the oil and water in cells into ice, expands in volume and breaks the wall. The same process is used with flowers in making cannabis balms and creams in order to free essential oils. Following the logic that a strong plant comes from a strong seed, if walls didn't break during freezing, any good seed will become a strong plant.

·
·
·

It does not have to be true if it makes sense. Probably it is, but you never know... By now, there should be some sort of research on the topic. Anyway, I would stay away from freezing seeds unless planning to breed.

·
·
·
·

I never said it's true... I only said it makes sense...

·
·
·
·
·

That make total sense!

Very nice collection.

·

Thanks dude!

Very cool. There is so much info here you could have split it to a series .. nice one tho and wow what a collection!

·

Spot on man! Wanted to do a brief breeders history as well but that would stretch into eternity... Best to keep it short and sweet. Thanks for the praise!
