Strain Review: Super Skunk Automatic by Sensi Seeds

Greetings everyone!

Welcome to my Strain Review. In this issue, we are going to Sensi Seeds and their third generation of one of their all-time top strain Super Skunk Automatic. I bought three seeds in their shop in Amsterdam and all of them germinated successfully.

**

Genetics: Super Skunk (Skunk #1 {Afghani x Mexican x Colombian} x Afghani) x Ruderalis (Unknown)
Type: 80% Indica - 20% Sativa
Yield: Medium
Height: Average
Flowering Time: 60 - 65 days
THC: -
CBD: -

Despite numbers (Mexican and Colombian are Sativas which mathematically makes it 50-50 hybrid) Super Skunk is Indica dominant strain. Skunk #1 was probably Indica phenotype and Afghani as another parent only strengthen Indica dominance. She is a decent yielder. A beginner can pull out two ounces of a single plant under 400w HPS easily with a bit of care. She doesn't like heat and overfeeding.

Two quite different types

Average height is about 100 cm but could stretch up to 120cm. Lifetime is a downside of this strain. Lasting nearly 90 days brings us to question why not to go for higher yielding, more potent and less expensive feminized version. My advice is if space is not an issue go for feminized.

Distinctive skunky smell and earthy aromas are characteristics of this strain. The quite relaxing effect with slight cerebral buzz. Happy but not overly social. Relieves stress and fights insomnia. Oh, and prepare some munchies.

Skunk ... about the only name there was for high grade weed where I grew up late 90s. There was white widow and purple haze about, but we’d never thought so many would exist as nowadays!

It's crazy what happens with genetics, isn't it??

And now is hard to find strain without some skunk gene.

how long of a light cycle did you have for this auto?

·

18/6 all the time.

nice! I hear that is really the only way to do autos.

I've heard some growers do 24/0 but honestly, I wouldn't push them more than 20/4. Theyneed some nighttime too xD

I run my veg plants 24/0, thinking of cutting it back to save a few bucks though. Why would you say they need night time?

During night plant rests, process CO2 more efficiently and converts stored up energy into carbs.

Well yeah, technically plants need night and will have a more complete life environment, but if all other conditions are great (or poor like high night time humidity causes - bud rot like the one I got) you can do 24/0 without a problem with auto-flowering strains - if the power is not an issue and you are in a hurry. Done them myself on 24/0, finished bit faster and absolutely nothing was wrong with them.

Ruderalis itself yes, it can handle 24/0 cos it's almost polar belt plant. What we have in our tents is just a percentage of Ruderalis. I don't think our plants would strive in Ruderalis' conditions. Temperatures, humidity, amount of light etc.

Looks good! Great job.

Thank you!!
