Already early on in our travels in Sri Lanka, we decided that we need to get ourselves a propper chillum. What triggered this reaction was mainly that the Italian chillum maker and master of the trade 'Manu Chillum' were having a small shop at Atman Festival. He is known as one of the best chillum makers in the world, you can't go wrong with Italian handmade pipes. Unfortunately, at the time we could not afford to buy one of his handmade pieces.
Luckily for us, he is located in Goa in India every winter. So when we arrived in Goa we decided to go visit him at his house and check out the chillums he had available. After looking at the selection for a while, we decided on a design that is made to look like wood, but is actually made of clay. After testing it out with some charas we were sold.
We have been treated to many chillums on our travels the last couple of years, but I have to say that our own piece is my favorite to smoke from. It makes for some extremely clean and nice hits!
