Question For Witnesses

Question For Witnesses

We all know that Witnesses are the backbone of the smoke blockchain. If we dont have good witnesses, then am sure everything would fall apart. They are our "blockchainguardians" if am not wrong, for me i would say they decide rules and somehow get them implemented maybe i should call them our politicians because we vote them into power. Those with more smoke power make more of a difference with their witness votes and for sure every vote really matters. Your 100 SP or even lesser might give a push on wether a witness moves up or not.

I have seen some amazing witness campaigns and awareness to spur up witness voting which is very important to this platform, @bbq-iguana is current giving a witness spotlight/update @chorocrypto also doing a witness interview and recently i joined a contest where i got free smokes for just showing few of my witness votes hosted by @jessica.

I decided that there are some questions that I would like to have answered by our lovely smoke witnesses so as to give us more reasons to vote for them. I have been on steemit for almost a year now and i have seen where members put posts like this and get amazing answers from witnesses, so have decided to bring this up here on smoke and i think it would be amazing. I just compiled a list of very few important questions that the entire smoke community would like to get the answer to.

Not all are from me I asked around for some things that others wanted to know as well.

Some are fucking pretty easy and can be verified while very few others are witnesses opinions that I would like to understand. I think the community should use responses to this to see who the would vote for and i hope to see our witnesses respond to this.

Love for Smoke <3

1 . Why did you decide to become a witness?
@Chronocrypto short response - Cannabis is a big part of my life, I have a messed up right shoulder from a past job that I fell on hard, been using Cannabis since than for the pain, ( Also love me some edibles) So being a witness on Smoke.io allowed me to expand my Whaleshares projects on this rad blockchain.
2 . As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.
@Chronocrypto short response - Not as of right now been tweaking my own codes, you might say the RPC FULL Node was accepted to be part of the smoke eco, but not in it's codebase of course.
3 . What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?
@Chronocrypto short response - I again have built Smoke.io's First community RPC Node so we can have two full nodes running so any Devs can connect to it we are considerately improving the speed and performance of the Node and adding all available API's to it so it can be used to its full potential. I also promote Smoke on my twitter and my Whaleshares account as well. I also Have a series named Meet Our Blockchain Guardians where we get to know a little bit about our very own block producers just to give you a small insight on their life and plans for Smoke. You can catch the latest Ep Here
4 . We have noticed a lot of spam accounts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?
@Chronocrypto short response - I have not actively help minimize this but I would suggest not to smoke up any that have been marked as as, thus letting those account holders know that they will not earn anything by doing so.But will be creating a small flag bot soon.
5 . Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?
@Chronocrypto short response - I have developed SmokeD Explorer for all your data needs. And also the first Cannabot SMOKE High Performance RPC Full Node I have a couple of projects I am currently working on but those are kept tightly secretive but it will allow smoke.io to explode!
6 . Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?
@Chronocrypto short response - Yes of course, Smoke.io could become the Decentralized platform for many things such as a market and or a full blog platform for every Cannabis lover to come and hangout and explorer everything that has to do with The wonderful plant, such as articles, recipes, legal status and like I said a marketplace.
7 . Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?
@Chronocrypto short response - Very hard question, but I think the ones that can contribute to the network not just running a Witness node like on steemit and be gone and out of touch with the community should not be considered for such position, remember being a block producer is a responsibility to the community to better the development of smoke.io and not just a money machine.

·

Thank for the honest anwers! Oh you were the one who created smoked. I really like it. Is there a tool out there already to see the current voting value? Like Steemnow?

  1. I decided to become a witness to give back to the community by tirelessy promoting Smoke outside our circles here but all over mainstream social. I'm the one, along with @stoner, currently behind the Smoke Twitter and promote it heavily on Facebook and Instagram as well.

2.This question does not apply to me.

3.By inserting myself into conversations and attracting quality contributers who will in turn grow Smoke exponentially.

  1. By helping in the research of these accounts. Many of these accounts work across chains and need to be held accountable.

  2. Im not a developer.

  3. I absolutely believe Smoke plays a pivotal role in the legalization of cannabis globally. I personally believe that legal and illegal do not equal right and wrong and do all things in my power to help relay this message. A plant cannot be wrong. It exists naturally. Therefore, it should not be illegal, regardless of how many people "decide" it should be.

  4. I dont think I deserve anything. I only hope that the community realizes the countless hours that I put in behind the scenes to help bring value to Smoke. Im not interested in praise, Im just doing something I love to do.

Thanks for the questions,
Smokeasaurusrex, Out😤

Wow, it did something weird. In my preview it shows them numbered properly and it completely changed the outline when i posted it🤔

The spaces after the number threw it off for me, especially since I was quoting.
Silly auto-formatting.

Well this is perfect timing as I am writing my witness announcement right now!

1. Why did you decide to become a witness?

I am currently starting a cannabis focused business and I have decided to learn everything I can about SMOKE so that I can integrate it into my business.

2. As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

Not yet.

3. What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

Just twitter so far, but I am just getting started. I plan to promote the Smoke Network as a part of my business so there will be much more to come in that area.

4. We have noticed alot of spam accouts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

Noting really so far accept to upsmoke @blackman's post about his plagiarism bot.

5. Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

I am working towards establishing a bud & breakfast and coffeeshop where you can consume cannabis and pay in crypto. Obviously, I plan to use accept SMOKE for payment and rewards system for the @coffeebuds social club.

6 Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?

I plan to use it in my legal cannabis businesses as a banking solution. There is a lack of banking services for cannabis businesses because of antiquated federal laws. I think fixing that problem could help towards legalization of cannabis as banks should see that they are losing business. Hopefully by that time, it's too late for them anyway!

7. Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

Currently, I don't think I deserve to be a top witness. I plan to do a lot for this community, but right now it's mostly all plans. Things are coming together at a pretty fast pace, but I wouldn't consider my contributions significant until I have actually established my B&B and Coffeeshop that accepts SMOKE.

·

Interesting to see if Smoke can become a banking solution for cannabis businesses.

Great answers!

  1. Why did you decide to become a witness?

I loved the smoke community almost instantly after my account was approved and started looking around.
I've been in crypto in general for about a decade now (I'm also a huge stoner), and I have some computer software skills that made running a witness pretty easy. Although I completely admit ignorance to certain things. For example, if you check my history you can see me asking how to run the API/RPC.
I knew I wasn't going to be some top, hotshot witness, but if I can help in some way during these early days then that's cool.

2.As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

No, I haven't.

3.What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

Off the blockchain, I've simply talked about smoke to friends and colleagues. So far I don't think any have signed up.
It's driving me crazy because by the end of this experiment they should probably be of higher status than myself due to their style and expertise.
For example, one has a grow going right now and I feel he'd be an asset to the community.
To be fair to the people I told to sign up, smoke refused to send the registration SMS to my regular cell number and I ended up having to use another route, I'm not certain if they will hit roadblocks.

4.We have noticed alot of spam accouts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

What is considered spam is a highly political topic in itself.

As far as people posting variations of "Hi," over and over again, I believe I commented and told them to not spam and the behavior seemed to correct.

As far as plagiarists go I'm perfectly happy flagging them, especially when they're copying someone from within the community.

With simply 'off topic' posts it's much more of a gray area. I certainly don't think I've flagged anything just for being off topic. The largest concern with having steem-like posts filtering into our community is that it makes it much easier for botnets to circle-vote. @howhigh has already spotted at least one attempt at this.

5.Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

I have not developed anything to date.
I serve a couple sites related to being witness,
http://witness.pw:4200/ -- If you want to see the witness in action.
https://smoked.witness.pw/ -- A clone of @chronocrypto's smoked site. the user info pages go through my own node.
Currently https://witness.pw/ is just the RPC endpoint of the witness.

Does running IPFS nodes count?

I considered checking out 'Vessel' on github and seeing how easy it would be to make a smoke version, it's a handy tool and it might only really take changing the API nodes.

6.Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?

Yes, in part. I love seeing posts by people in various parts of the world promoting legalization in their jurisdiction.
I also think the amazing activity here on the smoke network so far shows that there's a market for this that the world can't deny.
Hopefully smoke can also become a helpful resource for all those in the future.

7.Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

I walked into this knowing that I'd probably never get enough votes to get off the bottom. I'm here because I believe in the cause.

Edit: Actually I hadn't checked out @bbq-iguana's list in a while and I'm pretty happy with my supporters. Maybe I can reach the top...

Resmoked because this is an important subject that I too am interested in. Our witness community is growing daily so it is good for us to get a chance to see whats on their minds and agendas.

I like this! Upvoted for visibility. Lets see how many witnesses will answer!

·

Hoping for much turnup, thanks for the resmoke.

  1. Why did you decide to become a witness?
I became a witness , not to make money, but to build something and innovate with what is one of the most revolutionary technologies , with some of the brightest minds I've ever seen or worked with in my life. I became a witness to help people, the more people I help, the more value I will provide.

  2. As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

By codebase , do you mean front end or back end? As for the backend , not currently but I would like to contribute to our team's highest abilities. Front end, yes, we develop IPFS software, This can/will tie into whatever front end DAPPs appear on Smoke.io

  3. What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

I've spent a lot of time in Steem, and Crypto Currency communities promoting Smoke.io. I spend time each day promoting Smoke.io to people in the real world as well, and will continue to do so.

  4. We have noticed alot of spam accouts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?
I am in the process of creating informational guides (possibly video as well)to educate users how to earn, promote them self in productive ways, and also build networking skills, also I am wanting to reduce the learning curve new users face around different things inside the blockchain.

  5. Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it? Yes, We (our witness team, myself and @techcoderx) are working together to develop IPFS software to back up videos or audio content on the Smoke Blockchain.

  6. Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally?
Blockchains enable debate, debate is at the root of all true democracy. I would say, hopefully yes.

  7. Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness? This is determined by the network. I don't feel i have the right as an individual to determine this. I feel if the network determines me worthy , I accept this responsibility, and agreement to protect the blockchain. I believe witnesses should take on duties to encourage growth in a positive way that benefits users and witnesses.

Why did you decide to become a witness?

I'm a long-time smoker and an avid supporter of blockchain technology. I figured a mixture of the two was something I could wholeheartedly support and also something that I truly wanted to be an integral part of.

As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

I have no idea if anything I've suggested or mentioned has in any way been implemented with or without my influence. I'd definitely like to have a say in the future though, as I feel I have some valuable input.

What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

I've mentioned it to friends, made posts about it in cannabis forums that allow outside linking, I've spoken about it on blockchain forums, mentioned it in comments in various locations. I plan to expand more, but I need to save up a bit of working capital first so that I can free up some time.

We have noticed a lot of spam accounts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

Ask the community. ;)
In all seriousness, I've been rampant in seeking out abusers and I've brought them to the light on so many occasions I've lost count. There are many who actually can vouch for me and if you're on the same discord I am, you can check the abuse-reports page and see that from just about day 1 of my being here, I've sought out these types of behavior and drawn attention to it. At first I wanted to be passive, but at some point I realized that flagging was a necessity. Ideas can change and hoping for the best by spreading the word just doesn't cut it sometimes.

Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

I do intend to develop different applications and such for the blockchain. I am taking the initiative to learn C++ and am having an easy time understanding it. (Possibly due to knowing a good bit of java and python.) When I am sure of what I am doing in all aspects, I will begin to develop. :)

Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally?

I absolutely do.
I believe that platforms and blockchains like this will show the true nature of cannabis connoisseurs.
That we are simply peaceful people who like to enjoy ourselves and relax a bit, or that we are people who need the medicinal benefit of this wonderful plant.
I think that alone can shift public opinion and drive change.

Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

I do not believe in any way that I deserve to be the top, but in the top 20? I do.
I've worked hard to keep the blockchain clean and free from as much abuse as I can. I'm running a witness to help support it and going beyond the minimal requirements, to learn extra code, so that I can be even more of an asset. I am ever-present and am on daily, throughout the day. I am constantly interacting and engaging with the community and sharing ideas and opinions as well as being receptive to the ideas and opinions of others.

Overall, I care about this blockchain.
And the community that drives it.
:)

Thank you for posting this!
I think it's a great way to hear more from the witnesses! :)

Why did you decide to become a witness?

Because I have the technical know how when it comes to Linux and general system administration and wanted to add that experience into the SMOKE blockchain.

As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

No not at this time. But I have created the Witness Hotbox to make witnessing as easy as possible so anyone can do it as long as they take the time to learn how to run a Linux server.

What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

I have chatted with people I know online that may find this content interesting. It's all been one on one so far.

We have noticed a lot of spam accounts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

Nothing, there is nothing a witness can do to stop spam account creation. It's a problem that even big centralized sites have and that probably will never go away.

Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

Yes I created the Witness Hotbox. Details on the future development can be found here

Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?

Yes, the issue is education and awareness. I believe that a censorship free platform based on Cannabis culture will help spread the truth about the plant.

Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

I have run Linux server for years at this point and that give me a lot of experience with keeping everything stable. A top twenty witness must be able to monitor their server, keep it running, and fix any issues that arise on the fly.

This is pretty nice, Resmoked for wider visibility. Will be glad to see much feedbacks from our witnesses here.

  1. Why did you decide to become a witness?

  3. What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?
Ans: I have started a promoting smoke to friends and also people around my locality so that they can join and help the smoke community grow.
  4. We have noticed alot of spam accouts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?
Ans: I wont cast any of my smoke on such spam accounts and also flag it when the account keeps on doing that.
  5. Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?
Ans: No, But am really working on developing a Dapp for smoke.io
6 Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?
    Ans: Yes
  6. Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?
Ans: Becoming the top witness is not what a looking up to now but being able to give to the community and also help the African community grow and support most project on smoke is what am looking upto

Greetings all:)

Why did you decide to become a witness?

P4C - I conceptualized Props4crops as a site similar to Smoke Network, but for organic gardeners and farmers, in 2013. When Steemit first came out i worked to build a witness node just for learning purposes surrounding bitshares/graphene codex as we developed Props4Crops. Smoke platform gave me the opportunity to actually become an elected top 20 witness, and being a co-founder of the Virginia Industrial Hemp Coalition, a roots reggae DJ, a musician, and a life long proponent of legal cannabis in all its forms, it was suggested to me i should join Smoke as a witness, and being thrilled at the opportunity , here i am:) thank you kindly for your post here:)

As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

P4C - I am not a member of the core Smoke dev team but am working on some really cool stuff w Smoke:)

What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

P4C - I live in Denver CO and have been regularly attending crypto/blockchain meetups here in the city as well as just generally promoting and raising awareness of the site irl and through social media. The hype around Smoke here is high in certain circles already, and we have a plan to saturate cannabis related points of contact with site related info in the very near term now that the ball is rolling.

We have noticed alot of spam accounts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

P4C - As a social media/blockchain entrepreneur myself, spam and malevolent bots are the bane of my existence , to put it nicely:) I'm happy to flag accounts that slip through the nets and on to the site and i strongly encourage the community at large to engage and flag "bad actors" .
As Smoke witnesses we are very busy working on all facets of the site, each in our own unique ways, and we really require the vigilance of the community to keep the site clean and free from spam, no one person can do it alone thats for sure.

Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

P4C - I am currently spinning up the backend for some open source software for Smoke Network that i think will be really loved by the community:) Also under development is custom software that is useful for app devs in the blockchain sector who may require ultrafast and affordable livestreaming and data storage within a cryptologically secure node based architecture. Please follow my account and you will see some updates and specifics on all the things as the time comes:) I'd also Really love to see an Annual Smoke Network Fest become a thing here in Denver for everyone in the community to come and enjoy and have some facetime with one another:))

Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?

P4C - I absolutely do. I think the dominoes are falling in our favor but alot of work needs be done in the political arena. Participation in Smoke Network can provide some liquidity to political advocates for starters over time. And aint it good to know:))

Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

P4C - To be the top witness would be a dream come true. The witnesses on this network are a Really remarkable group of people who really do work tirelessly on this site and blockchain in general. If the community deems my efforts and contributions worthy over time then maybe one day i will be truly grateful to find myself there for a spell:)

Thanks kindly for this post @sammyswt!:) I really apprec the opportunity to share here!!:)) 1 Luv to all Smoke-ers!!:) - Props4Crops

1. Why did you decide to become a witness?

I started as a investor and have been following Smoke in the background for more than a year. So when I saw that I could actually help the network; I've jumped on the opportunity. Since the launch of the mainnet, I fell in love with the platform. I'm also hoping on learning more about the running of the platform.

2. As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase?

No. I don't think it will happen any time soon

3. What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

I'm trying to promote Smoke platform in Crypto Cannabis related channel on Telegram. I have also bought some GROW to buy services on Growadvertising.

4. We have noticed alot of spam accouts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

Downvoting content.

5. Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

I have a few projects/ideas and suggestions but I am not sure of being able to deliver at the moment. So I will announce in time if something is in action and moving.

6. Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?

No. I think that Smoke is the right platform to avoid censure and carry a message. I believe that Smoke is to young to already carry a political role.

7. Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

I don't think that I deserve to become a top witness at the moment to be honest. I am contributing at my manner. I'm happy to be a backup :)

1. Why did you decide to become a witness?

When I joined smoke.io there was not a bunch of witnesses. After a few days of cruising different post I really enjoyed it here and want to support it. Just because the place I live and the type of industrial work I do doesn't allow me to smoke cannabis its not going to stop me from supporting it trust me I want to. Things will change one day.

2. As our blockchain politicians have you made any contributions that have been accepted into the SMOKE codebase? If yes, please tell us.

I'm not a coder. I wish I was. So No for this answer

3. What have you done to enhance the promotion of this blockchain off of the blockchain itself?

I've talked to friends but not much more than that.

4. We have noticed alot of spam accouts and posts which is not good to this platform which is at its early stage, how have you helped to stop or minimize this?

The ones that I've seen, I typically warn them and give them advice or down vote them if they upvote themselves.

5. Have you developed or do you have plans to develop anything for the smoke blockchain? It doesn't need to be software, what is it?

I have not developed anything but since this is similar to steem there is lots of things that can be adapted over to make information more available especially witnesses missing blocks since this is a democratic style of voting. Working on it unless someone else makes it first.

6. Do you think the Smoke blockchain has a role to play in the legalization of cannabis globally ?

Hell yeah! Cannabis is like cryptocurrencies, just wait for the mass adoption.

7. Why do you think you deserve to be or become the top witness?

I don't get to decide if I deserve to be. The people do! I'm here to do my part for the people and support the blockchain.

[!] excellent questions i'm leaving this as a note just now - see some great responses already.
