That didn't last long - Banned from Pinterest

last month

Apparently I broke their spam policies? Perhaps due to the original source of the posts being from smoke rather than from smoke-indica.com or perhaps it was because I had posted 100+ pins from the site and followed like 200 cannabis related user accounts?

Funnily enough, immediately before my ban I was getting anti-drug messages/links when using the search box for other cannabis users, probably raised red flags on their systems, last minute intervention before booting me from their platform.

I get to appeal it in 2 days, but otherwise Pinterest is a no-go zone lol.

Anyone else been banned from pinterest before?

Probably flooding for new account. Combination of same URL pin and large amount of follows. They probably have an automated "spam filter" to avoid every social media "guru" spams with hundreds, thousands of links and follows within few hours. Without getting any repin.

Pinterest is generally rather easygoing and don't really give a drat about original image source.

·

I'll try appealing the ban then, we'll see in the next week or so.. the traffic figures they were reporting was quite attractive, plus the images from the posts looked great on my profile.. :/

·
·

Yeah it's a dark horse when it comes to traffic generation. They have some of the best "related content" AI and people actually do like clicking.

Think we need to come together, as a community, and set up the odd social blast op. We don't have many accounts and can definitely benefit from it. All those platforms massively use social signals - Google too btw - when it comes to highlighting/driving traffic so boosting selected posts/pins/tweets every so often can but help us.

Be careful with Youtube.... I was making $100. A month there then was banned for my Cannabis/Smoke videos. No recourse. Years of work gone....

When I signed up on Pinterest, I was banned within 2 minutes. Literally . . . 2 minutes. lol. Anyways, I IMMEDIATELY appealed the ban and within 7 hours they admitted they had made a mistake.

They need to update their spam software or something. lol.

Here are the e-mails . . .

Hmm perhaps I'll get unbanned then 🤔

·
·

I think you definitely will (get unbanned).
And you better . . . because I'm now down to just one follower.
lol

LOL, that certainly didn't take long huh!

Dunno what other games they may be playing of course, the CEO used to work for Google and seems to be part of the same 'establishment' crowd.

·

Yeah, no joke haha!

I get banned everywhere I go for posting Cannabis.

·

Except from Twitter, but its engagement rate is pretty low

·
·

Yeah.... I try to post really controversial tweets to see if I can get any engagement at all.... not much. Most Accounts on Twitter must be fake.

·
·
·

Fake or just not using the platform as a content consumer? Either way it seems like a lot of work for little to no reward 😒

How long did you have this account on Pinterest? It's probably because you were "going too fast" and got picked up as some spambot or something with their filters.

·

Less than 48hrs, seems like an excessive rate limiting knee jerk reaction, or perhaps they were upset that my board descriptions spoke about the authors of posts having been rewarded off-site? 🤷‍♂️

·
·

It's probably both, they hate losing content creators as much as they hate paying them...

Damn it, I m so sorry to hear.... there are so many cannabis pins and boards in the platform... so what the heck are they telling about guidelines.... ?!!!

·

No worries :)

I'm pretty sure it's an automated anti-spammer thing, but we'll see when I appeal what the real deal is. It could be a major policy shift regarding cannabis due to the search box anti-drug rhetoric 🤔

·
·

I hope this would be resolved.... it is a pity when all others are pinning their cannabis images and not getting banned.

Hey just curious, does hexo blog automatically convert json to markdown? Looking for a good solution for blockstrain.info

·

Json to markdown? No I don't think so. I believe it renders markdown though. If you need help processing json into Web elements I could maybe help out a little in my spare time. Got a github repo?

Never used pinterest to be honest. Been there a few times for some pictures but that it. I don't understand their policy. They have tons of cannabis users.

·

They have tons of cannabis users.

Maybe not for long? 😂

·
·

Most definitely not for long. 😂

Uh sorry to hear that, I was never banned from Pin, I thought of it as some album making thing for piccies. LOL.
Here, this is my collection of all kind of websites, I update that list an each month, look if something you can use, some are crappy, but link sharing friendly , no idea, I hope it can help you, I can also copy/paste list which I use to link share stuff in here ( I just need to tidy it to fit into one slab of text).

Collection ===>> List of alternative social media, paid crypto blogging and other websites

Screw them.

·

Yeah man, no warning just an immediate apparent permanent ban. The drug warning message when using the search bar indicates their stance towards cannabis i guess..

IG is the place to be.

·

Idk it's owned by Facebook so it's probably going to be the same.. I'll look into it i guess

·

I was banned on IG in no time.

·
·

I heard of someone else getting their account back after like 6 appeals on IG, not cannabis friendly though

·

IG doesn’t drive much traffic. It’s mostly profile link or DM work. For brands which are known it’s different but the ROI of IG is very low when you don’t sell anything [via DM].

Nope never then again i have been on pinterest for years with dozens of other topics.

·

Yeah probably the fast paced use of the platform, combined with the url in the descriptions and finally pinning smoke-indica instead of the direct smoke posts I guess..

·

Do they also have a ban on booze ?
Just asking...

never happened :(

·

me neither...

So sad but we are here in our own is the better safe place..

Good ideas.I think it is very important to identify of the words, especially if you have a copy paste paste here and mark it with a red flag.
I can remind Saita to share a variety of information about a beautiful writer and marijuana, and to share the original content. I really like your idea.😎😎

·

Your AI needs tweaking.

Anyone tried MJ? https://mjmaryjane.com/

Doesn't look like it's good for outbound traffic though 🤔

·

I think "Traffic Roots - Cannabis Advertising Network" is Better.
https://trafficroots.com/

·
·

That'd require paying though, I like the look of: https://cannasos.com/ https://www.weedlife.com/ https://www.mjlink.com/ These may be good ways of drawing cannabis traffic to smoke & smoke-indica.com for free without being banned 🤔

·
·
·

Cannasos, look so great and might be great solution for traffic.
