It’s been quite the week. Zero posts, yes ZERO.
I’ve been reading, commenting, and busting nuts of plagiarists though but I haven’t published any post on my account since my last post: WIP: Unofficial FAQ for SMOKE.
Last week when I pre-announced the FAQ and asked for your questions, I called it a WIP, a Work in Progress.
One week later, sooner than expected, I am happy to say the FAQ is live.
Not with 30-40 questions as initially targeted but with right now 45 articles already. The FAQ is not yet fully done. Let’s call it a BETA release right now.
I still have some open questions which need to be added and soon will (see list below).
The goal of the FAQ is to have a reference for new users. The FAQ is written for n00bs
by a n00b.
The FAQ does not aim to be the ultimate destination to discuss the nitty-gritty of the Smoke blockchain mechanics. The FAQ is geared at new members who have no pre-existing knowledge of the Smoke blockchain — or of the Steem/Whaleshares/Scorum blockchains.
Normally not used to write for that audience, it was an interesting experience. Writing super simplified 101 articles is not easy, especially not for users with an advanced understanding of the mechanics. Of course, I welcome anyone’s feedback on writing style and [lacking] depth of the articles.
As mentioned in my pre-announcement, I went with a free platform to host the FAQ on. I did opt for Zoho Desk, because of its free 3 agents as well as the community feature (forums). When it comes to free, or cheap, Zoho’s products are often forgotten but anybody looking for a free option for productivity or anything [digital] office related should check out Zoho. The open source world for such products/apps is sorely lacking still and whoever needs a quick solution, a MVP can often find powerful products at lower cost than elsewhere from Zoho. Not necessarily products lacking features even, Zoho can compete with most solutions and covers most needs.
I am not yet fully satisfied with the organization of the categories. I need to further think about that and possibly reshuffle categories, as well as reclassify articles.
Add a new category in the FAQ
I already have few main questions.
The community forums, also known as “self-help” or “community help” have not yet been activated publicly.
I will get to that as soon as possible, hopefully within the next few days.
There are still some questions which need to be added to the FAQ. And I’m pretty sure more will follow, even though I don’t want to extend the number of articles infinitely.
Currently these are the still open questions:
- How do I cash out? Has anybody written a reference worthy post about Smoke -> Rudex?
How do I add image to post?Great news coming soon[ish]
- How do I power down?
- How do I cancel a power down?
- Can I vote as often as I want?
- What’s the safest way to manage my keys?
- What is resmoking? (Also: what’s that match icon for?)
- How do I style my post?
- Where can I trade SMOKE? [NEW]
With exception of Q6, which I think deserves an own reference post on Smoke too, these questions should also be published as FAQ articles within the next 24-48 hours.
New questions can still be submitted, but some questions already submitted may have been covered under a different title.
Proofread, proofread, and spel cheque.
