For today's weed news we go to the great state of Connecticut.
Yale University just received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to begin conducting an unprecedented study into the effects of cannabis on real human participants.
That's right, researchers at Yale's School of Medicine will soon begin working on a study focused on analyzing how administering various doses and ratios of both cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol helps people suffering from pain and stress.
"We wanted to see if we can understand it better. How does it work? Who does it work for? What doses do you need? Which symptoms can be alleviated?" says Dr. Rajita Sinha, lead researcher of this upcoming trial.
What makes this trial stand out, apart from the fact that it is going to take place at an Ivy League university such as Yale, is the fact that instead of using lab animals, researchers will be working directly with humans. Apparently, there have been relativly few cannabis-related studies that only use people as participants.
I feel like having Yale research the benefits of medical Cannabis is definitely good for the medical Cannabis community and I'm sure it will also help to further reduce the stigma around this wonderful plant.
In my opinion this trial will ultimately highlight and reiterate much of what we hear people anecdotally reporting that Cannabis helps them with. I've personally experienced pain relief from using a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio salve and have also relied on smoking indica cannabis with CBD added to it to help me deal with everything from the inability to focus to the inability to sleep and probably a few things in between as well, so I know that weed works. Therefore I feel like if the scientists at Yale really do their research properly, they should come up with some similar conclusions.
But I guess, as usual, that remains to be seen. I will be eagerly awaiting the results of this study because I feel like having the Yale name attached to it will definitely help it be respected by cannabis sceptics and those who are flat-out against it. Whenever I come across the results of this particular study I'll be sure to share them with you guys on here and on the podcast.
And for now, that's what's up in the great state of Connecticut!
