For today's weed news we go to the great nation of Canada.

After legalizing recreational flower sales last year, Canada has been putting together their legal framework to allow edibles and other infused products on store shelves sometime this fall. And now it seems that things are getting close to that moment because some Canadian cannabis retailers have already started their search for edibles suppliers.

That's right, one such retailer, the Ontario Cannabis Store just announced an official call for submissions for producers of non-flower cannabis products such as extracts, topicals, infused drinks as well as all of course, edibles.

"This product call marks an important milestone in securing a broad variety of cannabis products that meet the preferences of Ontario consumers... We are committed to working towards eliminating the illegal Market by diversifying our legal and tested product selection and offering consumers the products they are excited about," said Patrick Ford, CEO and president of the Ontario Cannabis Store.

Any suppliers out there who would like to submit their product portfolio or get in touch with the Ontario Cannabis Store can do so before June 28th 2019 by going to doingbusinesswithocs.ca

"While the OCS anticipates it will take producers some time to develop and produce these new products and receive the necessary licensing amendments from Health Canada, this product call is expected to kick-start the rollout of these important products in Ontario," Ford continued.

The country is opposition to legalize infused products before the end of 2019. Some even think it might happen in the fall.

If you ask me, it really looks like there are going to be edibles available for purchase in Canada shortly. I totally agree that even if it takes some time for there to be a lot of choices and variety, I feel like the Ontario Cannabis Store's call for producers definitely signals that Ontario is serious about diversifying the Cannabis products available in their Province. And I think like a lot of people are going to respond positively to that.

Let's just hope it doesn't take all that long for everything to be up and running.

And that's what's up in Ontario!
