For today's weed news we go to the great state of Rhode Island.

People are waking up to the fact that weed is not and never really was a "gateway drug". In fact, many now believe that it can actually be used to help people overcome addictions to serious drugs like prescription pills and others.

And now, the Rhode Island Department of Health has announced that it is scheduling a public hearing to address the topic of allowing medical marijuana for people trying to get off of opioids!

Sounds like a great idea to me.

The Department of Health spokesperson Joseph wendelken recently commented on the matter saying "... There are people who suffer chronic pain, so if they have medical marijuana as an option, it means perhaps they wouldn't need to be on opioids and could transition off of opioids onto medical marijuana."

In just Rhode Island alone, over 335 people fatally OD'd on opioids in 2016, over 320 the next year, and in the first 9 months of 2018, the number of deadly opioid overdoses reached 220 people. That's almost one person every single day!

During the proposed hearing, the DOH plans to review medical literature and studies related to using cannabis for pain and opioids, listen to public comments, as well as get input from researchers and clinicians about what they think. After all of that, Dr Alexander-Scott of Rhode Island has been selected to ultimately make a decision about what to do.

If the state decides to go ahead and let opioid addicts use MMJ for their condition, they will most likely be consuming edibles to help them. However, it looks like smoking as well as using rubs and salves could also be allowed.

The hearing is scheduled for February 6th 2019 and will take place in the auditorium of the Department of Health.

I encourage anybody in Rhode Island that's interested in this story to find out more about that hearing and possibly even attend. They did say that they're going to be listening to public comments.

To me this seems like a no-brainer. If you're addicted to heroin or synthetic heroin AKA opioids and you want help, why shouldn't you be allowed cannabis as one of your options?

Let's keep our eyes on this story and see how it develops, but I have a good feeling about this one.

And that's what's up in Rhode Island!

This just reinforces my opinion on governments. If you do the complete opposite to what they tell you to do you will always be better off, especially when it comes to finance. Thanks mate, bong on bro. :-)

bong on man!

Finance is the major reason why our government always give an elephant attention to some issues.

According to to the news i read in one of the articles published online.
he U.S. state of Rhode Island, marijuana has been legal statewide for medical use, within state regulations, since 2006. However, the possession of marijuana for recreational use remains illegal. Several proposals to legalize the drug have been advanced in the Rhode Island General Assembly, but none have succeeded.
Mmj to be legalized for the use of the people is a step forward of good news.
