Today's Weed News For January 10th 2019 #KAMALAHARRIS

For today's weed news we go to the United States Senate.

California Senator Kamala Harris, who is now positioned to run for president in 2020, just released a new book called The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, outlining her political ambitions and plans for America's future.

And in it, she openly calls for legalization of cannabis across America!

"We need to legalize marijuana and regulate it... And we need to expunge non-violent marijuana related offenses from the records of millions of people who have been arrested and incarcerated so they can get on with their lives," writes Senator Harris.

"We also need just stop treating drug addiction like a public safety crisis instead of what it is a public health crisis... When someone is suffering from addiction the situation is made worse not better by involvement in the criminal justice system," the senator continued.

Her stance seems to be in line with most of the other Democrats that have hinted at possibly running in the 2020 election. Those names include Senator Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren as well as Cory Booker who have all publicly called for the legalization of cannabis and the past.

But although it's good to hear Kamala Harris come out and support of weed, it's important to note that this is actually a rather new approach for Kamala.

Just two years ago, she voted against legalizing recreational cannabis in her home state of California. And it appears that it wasn't until former Attorney General Sessions threatened to start messing with states that have recreational and medical cannabis laws on the books, that Senator Harris flipped the script and actually joined the pro-cannabis-law-reform movement.

It's definitely going to be fun to watch how much attention the topic of cannabis is going to receive in the next presidential race. From the looks of it, it's definitely shaping up to be a big factor and the race.

Let's hope the candidates that run on a cannabis law reform platform actually mean it, and don't just use it as a talking point to get elected. I guess that remains to be seen.

But for now, that's what's up in Washington DC!

Hope she will meet up to her promises.

More great news and changes coming down the pike. Why do they treat all other addictions as medical or phycological in nature. But drugs addictions are treated as a criminal matter? this has never made any sense to me, thanks for the update mate. Bong on bro. :-)

I think they need to review their laws on addiction.

Well done, I love your blog. Thanks for keeping me posted on the news
