I missed Amsterdam

I was in Amsterdam for a business trip last week and as much as I wanted, the testing policy of my company kept me from taking a smoke.

I am not sure it would have mattered though, as there were so many smoking on the streets I would likely fail the test from passive inhalation.

Even without the cafes, Amsterdam has got to be one of the coolest cities in the world, a hipsters wet dream. So many specialty shops and reclaimed pieces fill the gorgeous renovated buildings packed in side by side.

If you haven't been and get the opportunity, take it.

..haven’t been there for years..anyway, some things never change..did you know that it is illegal smoking in the streets also there?..and smoking in the coffee shops since a few months is allowed just for people who live officially there??..even for amsterdamer who was born there and now aren’t living there, it’s illegal??!!...but this rule has never been followed by anyone...one last information: did you know that Amsterdam is pissed off by having too many tourists??..every year 20millions!!..like Berlin, but Berlin is 6-7 times bigger...anyway, Amsterdam will be always a great place to be...

Yep I did know, but it doesn't stop anyone and despite eople being annoyed by the tourists, those tourists rent rooms and eat in restaurants and of course, have the munchies. The amount if money it brings into the city is enormous.

..ya, the money is welcome, the bringers not always..anyway, people like us make it to what it is at the end..

I completely agree with you...its one of my favorite cities in the world 😊 Love the cannabis variety, the museums, the cannals, the bikes...would like to live there one day 🙂

Even without the weed it is a great place to chill out. I was lucky that I got to meet up with a friend for dinner while there and hang out "as a local" for a little while.

Yes, that is nice. I normally use couchsurfing to meet up or couchsurfing hangouts or meetup, its good for meeting locals when travelling and i recommend it 🙂 In Amsterdam some years ago, i met a guy in a couchsurfing event that invited me and other people in the group to chill out and his home and smoke some of the cannabis he cultivated...one of the best memories of my life 😊
