The Bong Connection / Part XX / The Funny Lady & Stony Awards - Yes, Please

last year

The Funny Lady smoked pot rarely in high school and college, but when she arrived in Chicago she lived the life of an intense #Stoner. She is not one of those people who smokes #Marijuana and suddenly has a burst of creativity. She is one of those people who smokes #Cannabis and spends an hour lightening her eyebrows. She wrote :

I can't perform, drive or write stoned, and therefore I smoke pot a lot less than I used to.

So the smoking with The Funny Lady would be great because if she can’t perform or write while she’s high then there’s no pressure to rise to her level of genius and you can just sit and enjoy her maniacal laughter free of context.

The Funny Lady & Pot Jokes

She joined SNL in 2001. She was best known for her impersonations of Kelly Ripa, Sharon Osbourne and Hillary Clinton, and usually delivered the pot punchlines on Weekend Update. She said: "Rapper Snoop Dogg was given a desk appearance ticket Wednesday night in New York for possession of marijuana. Snoop called the ticket unfair and hard to roll."

Her last #Pot joke on SNL:

Whern you're doing something illegal you need to speak in code. When I call up my weed dealer and I ask for $50 worth of circus tickets, you know what he doesn't give me? Circus tickets! Really!

The Funny Lady & Stony Awards

The Funny Lady was born on Sept. 16, 1971 in Burlington, Massachusetts. She is the American actress, comedian, director, producer, and writer; Amy Meredith Poehler.

Before she became The Funny Lady she is now, she was in Chicago where she was living in Chris Farley’s old apartment, while studying improv at Second City in the early ‘90s. She got her start at Second City in Chicago, which led to the formation of Upright Citizens Brigade with Matt Besser, Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts.

The Upright Citizens Brigade TV show on Comedy Central (1998-2000) is a cult classic. In addition, UCB hosted the Stony Awards & Cannabis Cup in 2000.

After touring and performing improv across the world, she moved to New York City with her improv group, the Upright Citizens Brigade. The group’s performances eventually became a half-hour sketch show on Comedy Central in 1998. She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in 2014 and has received three Emmy Nominations.

The Funny Lady / "Yes, Please"

In 2014, she published her funny memoir "Yes, Please" where she shared her story growing up in Boston, Massachusetts and her stories experimenting with drugs. Poehler reveals the drugs she’s experimented with including cocaine, "Which she instantly loved but eventually hated," ecstasy, and mushrooms.

There’s a chapter in "Yes, Please" entitled "Lessons I Learned on Mushrooms." She wrote:
"I’ve tried most drugs but avoided the BIG BAD ONES." One of the ones Poehler tried was Marijuana.

During her time at Second City, Poehler smoked a lot of marijuana, she wrote: "I arrived in Chicago. I would smoke in the morning and listen to Bob Marley…" As smoking helped with her Irish stomach and anxiety.

During her time traveling the world performing improv, she judged the "Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam", she said: "Where people from all of the world come to try different weed and say which is the best. And we weirdly, Upright Citizens Brigade, the group that I’m in, opened for Patti Smith, and it was really strange."
