There's no doubt that #Cannabis reform has more potential to take place in 2020 than at any point over the past couple of decades in the U.S. as most of democratic candidates intend to legalize #Weed and many of them have wide-sweeping plans to expunge the records of those convicted of weed-related crimes, or invest in weed research.
Bernie Sanders / I-VT has suggested that an Executive Order to #Legalize marijuana is on the table, while Kamala Harris / D-CA calling for legalizing #Marijuana, ending war on drugs and making government loans available to Americans seeking to launch marijuana businesses. So what about D-NY!
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand / D-NY
She is the lawyer, politician and a member of the Democratic Party, Kirsten Elizabeth Gillibrand (Born December 9, 1966), who has served as the junior United States Senator from New York since 2009, and was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009.
She is the mother of two boys, who did take on leadership role in fight against sexual assault and called for President Trump to resign because of sexual assault allegations.
She has voiced support for legal marijuana in the past, announcing in February 2018 that she would co-sponsor a bill with Sen. Cory Booker to legalize the weed nationwide in an effort to help minority communities disproportionately affected by its criminalization.
She unveiled a plan few months ago that would legalize recreational and medical marijuana, expunge all nonviolent marijuana convictions and "Tap into the medical and economic opportunity" of the weed.
Here you can read about her plan, to see how she explained, that as president, she will immediately deschedule marijuana as a controlled substance, and start working to not only heal the damage done by racist drug laws, but tap into the medical and economic opportunity that legal marijuana offers, she said :
Fundamentally, whether adults use marijuana is a matter of privacy, and we should treat marijuana as a major economic opportunity and revenue source.
420 in 2020
With huge number of declared candidates that support federal legalization and ready to take on President Trump in 2020, there are a big chance that 2020 will be 420 one, because if you check how the 2020 Presidential candidates stand on marijuana, you will see:
19 Candidates Support Federal Legalization.
2 Candidates / No Support.
4 Are Unclear!
