Celebrated actress, dancer, singer, prominent civil rights activist and one of the most famous authors and poets of the 20th century. Dr. Maya Angelou was many things that can be summed up by the word "Genius".

Angelou ( She went by the name of "Marguerite Johnson" or "Rita"), who started life as Rita Johnson from Stamps, Arkansas, was raped at the age of 7, and had an illegitimate child in her teens. Working as a waitress to support her son in San Diego, 18-year-old Rita met two lesbian prostitutes who frequented the bar where she worked. One night, the women invited her to their house for dinner.

Angelou recounts:

"Let's have a bit grifa before dinner." Johnnie Mae gave an order, not an invitation. She turned to me. "You like grifa?" "Yes. I smoke."

Angelou first smoked Marijuana, when she was 18 years old.

"I inhaled the smoke as casually as if the small brown cigarette I held were the conventional commercial kind."

She explained;

I opened my throat and kept my tongue flat so that the smoke found no obstacle in its passage from my lips to my throat.

Angelou added;

"The weed always had an intense and immediate effect."

  • She was an avid Marijuana Supporter. She believes in Cannabis and isn’t afraid to share her experiences with it. Angelou wrote about Mary Jane, hash, grass, gauge, weed, pot and stated she had "Absolutely no fear of using it."

  • During her earlier years, Maya and the herb had a tight bond. In her second 1974 autobiography, Gather Together In My Name, she documents her first experience being high at a dinner party – one of a series of seven autobiographies that begins with the highly-lauded "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings".

After smoking weed and eating, Angelou said:

"The food was the best I’d ever tasted. Every morsel was an experience of sheer delight. I lost myself in a haze of sensual pleasure."

The great American poet and author Born in St. Louis on Apr. 4, 1928

and passed away on May. 28, 2014, the date when we have lost our wisest woman!
GOD Bless the Soul of Dr. Maya Angelou.
