Parallels can be drawn between the cannabis and cryptocurrency community. Both markets require sane regulation and adoption to reach their potential in our society. While the World including South Korea, Thailand, Canada and now 10-US states have legalized cannabis to some degree, acceptance is required to break the current negative stereotypes and social maladaptations that keep it from becoming truly integrated into society.
Bitcoin and the associated Cryptocurrency market are being adopted in a big way. Giant investment firms and organizations including the Nasdaq, institutional trading desks and the Swiss SIX index have embraced cryptocurrency. The problem comes from adoption of the assets in question and acceptance. In much the same way, cannabis is becoming legalized around the world, but mores and social constructs have yet to catch up. Cannabis is associated with “gangsters” and “lazy stoners”, which is a negative stereotype. Cannabis can be legalized but still put those who legally use it in peril at their place of work and socially. This is unfair.
Social media including Smoke.io will help bring notice to the creative endeavors of the cannabis user community. The next generation after the millennials will be more open minded to other’s choices. The Baby Boomers who began cannabis culture in the 1960’s and 1970’s can help generation z see that cannabis is not the negative drug they have been educated about.
Both cannabis and cryptocurrency adoption will change the World. We will see how it goes in 2019 and the years to come.
