Medical marijuana will continue to be erroneously debunked until prescription powerhouses are addressed.

Shortly after joining I saw an article posted on here correlating legalizing marijuana to reducing the opioid OD deaths.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190807092350.htm

And then I came across this one shortly after...

https://www.physiciansweekly.com/medical-marijuana-no-longer/

I have many immediate responses to this more recent article and anyone who takes the time to read it will see the weak attempt to halt the progression of legalization and alternative approaches to medicine.

What has REALLY happened is that legalization has influenced funding streams. Prescription writing patterns have changed and federal programs such as Medicare have been impacted.

What I CANNOT understand is how this primary motive of maximal financial gain in “the business of saving lives” continues to direct publications and seep into research motives so passively.

This can and will change as we like minded individuals and self healers find our way to each other through platforms such as this.

Lastly, I would like to note this beautifully conclusion...

No fucking shit!

This is because no one will legitimize it while it continues to get federal push back.

I am well established within the behavioral health field in DE and have personally asked agencies to educate themselves about the use of medical marijuana as an alternative to pain management and as a TOOL in the fight against opioid addiction and alcoholism with minimal response & ZERO change.

I respect cannabis and it’s MANY compounds. But big pharma isn’t going to tell me what they are or how to use them.

✌️, 💚. No hard drugs

Honestly, Big Pharma — and also the GOP and its backers — will sponsor many a study to debunk the results of other studies.

Just imagine the following use cases of medical marijuana and then think about how that would affect the C-level execs’ yearly bonuses: addiction treatment, antibiotics alternative, painkiller alternative, (specific) cancer treatment alternative.

All those different use cases are but a selection Of recent studies, all of which I covered on @alibi. Of course, Big Pharma, and its ilk, will push back and fight tooth and nail against legalization.

At least until they get a head’s up on upcoming legalization and can get their grubby claws in the cannabis jar and acquire enough smaller companies to whether kill or become a major player in the new niche.

That then only to charge ridiculous fees, unaffordable to most, again. Epidiolix? That’s what Big Pharma does. That and knowingly contribute to lethal outcomes, like we’ve learned from the Johnson&Johnson case, which highlighted that they acquired ever more poppy plantations in order to be able to keep up with opium needs for their opioids.

Bunch a c*nts? Yup, that’s what they are and the fidiciary duties to shareholders framework in most First World nations only further amplifies that modus operandi.

Lotsa work to go and do, but the cannabis niche will not stop. There will be setbacks and the fight will be a long and difficult one... but it’s one we will win.

The Johnson & Johnson case makes me sick. And I have see @alibi’s reviews and followed him.

@unnamed I have come to respect what you have to say quickly and whether it’s feedback to me or others, I have learned a lot from you so far. Have a great (c u n) Tuesday 😉

Also—how are we gonna win? We have to wait for political influence to give the okay and then the rest drop down the system to the layman?

I just don’t know where to start where I am building some protection from this corruption...unionizing free weed use lololol that’s what I need to find

·

Thanks for the kind words. Now to make sure that respect is maintained and not lost. 🤘

What makes me sickest about the J&J case is that they got out of it rather cheaply. Here was hoping for a fine somewhere in the area of $4-5bn. Little more than half a billion IMHO just doesn’t cut it for all the damage done.

What’s the price of life? And the way they are pushing medical marijuana now—it’s the same as pain management practices in my state. It just isn’t fair. The only reason I choose the dispensary atm is because I had to protect my employment. But in the just over 1 year since I’ve been a medical card holder I’ve had to pay $350 on 2 occasions for a signature. The first doctor I went to lost his license. No one contacted me.

Just because weed isn’t physically addicting doesn’t mean people don’t need to be educated and given the tools they need to be in control of their healthcare.

They stigmatize and persecute marijuana like it’s federally regulated, but nothings a problem when it comes to capitalism.

... but nothings a problem when it comes to capitalism

Eventually systems will evolve, even be reset. I have no issue with systems becoming blue monsters, that isn’t always known and more often than not economic modeling doesn’t properly show the dangers.

Look at the effect of globalization. I live in Asia, here they couldn’t be happier about it. Truth to be told those call center jobs, and the condo lifestyle dream, aren’t entirely compatible. No such outsourced job pays for a condo of even only 50sqm (~540square feet). That would already be level of a senior developer, and they usually end up with 28sqm (~300square feet), which they have to mortgage for 15-20 years. Not really a dream if you ask me.

Yet, in first world globalization had a led to both gentrification and massive losses of jobs.

Systems need to evolve. Not every CEO has the cloud, and respect, from its board and shareholders like Tim Cook who can say that Apple does not pursue just fidicary duties.

Luckily, crisis does lead to progress and new [creative] solutions. Elizabeth Warren has already highlighted the wrong of the fiduciary system. It’s a first step.

Luckily, I’m an advocate and not an activist. So I don’t mind playing the long game. The long game and the game of compromising. The latter which we will always need to do.

Not necessarily for ourselves, but for the generations to come. To the best of our knowledge. My grandparents didn’t demonstrate for a welfare based situation, with healthcare, then to hear that they ruined the futures of Millennials. No, they fought for what they thought was right in their eyes.

It’s now up to millennials to not just whine but become political and design new solutions which can eventually become laws and the future for few decades. Until those models are not appropriate anymore either.

@unnamed I will spend some time reflecting—do I want to be an advocate or an activist when I grow up?

I feel less confident systems will reset. But I’m not a radical person. For now...I will learn. Thank you. 🙏

What's the price of a life? #priceless

But seems Big Pharma is sh*tting its pants and doesn't want to go to Court.

@unnamed — super heavy talks around my way about this yesterday. My morning chat with you really lit a fire throughout the day. My mom is actually a pharmacist so she told me so many interesting stories of what it “was like then” and even her role in it.

·

It isn't just GOP backers there is just as many Democrat backers. I live in Big Pharma country Eli Lily is pretty much in my back yard and both parties are responsible for it.

·
·

Many are responsible for it. The Dems are Wall Street lobby lovers too. But pretty sure Koch & Co. have contributed more to certain industries.

I’m a progressive, I will always first blame the GOP. The GOP’s focus is much more supportive of fiduciary duties than of actual giving a crap about the citizens. I think the Dems may actually care just that little more. Not as much as I would love but still just that little bit more, yes.

·
·
·

I am from a place where currently the FBI is investigating and the Democratic party is so far into the crimes it isn't funny. So that makes me laugh a little. But you will see me say over and over again. Elephants and Asses alike are screwing the masses and we are the masses and the less of two evils is still evils. If we want change American's have to fire the duopoly and vote in 3rd parties and independents and then we have to change them frequently because absolute power absolutely corrupts, Uncle Ben was right about that, in the Spiderman movie, not a true line has ever been spoken.

Tbh... I don’t want to make this a political forum since I firmly believe that the current systems are not appropriate anymore. And that affects my opinion of both.

But, on a similar tone I find it ludicrously hilarious how people are supporting the orange, despite having already been royally shafted by him. And that’s not going to change any time soon, sorry Rust Belt. Plus, in tone, it’s not different from early 30s currently.

It’s purely polarizing nowadays. Think the GOP, and its thinktanks aren’t as ridiculously illegal/criminal in many aspects? They all suck but the biggest error we are making is not learning from history, as voter.

Love you mentioned the bipartisan system. I come from a place with in recent 5-6 decades historically coalition governments. They are more fragile, we have more elections but if you take a long term view... they’re better. They’re better for one reason: end of the day long term each government works at the same agenda, minus few temporary campaign promises.

Why? Because they can’t just stoop as low as constantly slagging of the opponent because next election they may need them as coalition partner to stay in power. So inevitable political agendas see more overlap [when looking at the longer term picture] and that overlap tends to be more progressive [pro citizen] in approach in most places.

A much more delicate system, and colors play a role on temporary laws but long term it seems to work better for the citizens.

The problem is with the morons in charge who keep pushing back. They couldn't push back legalization in many places in the US, but they keep fighting it because they are all connected and less cannabis treatment means more prescription treatments and more money for them.
