Grow Diary: Switching To 12/12 Light Schedule.

Today the clones were moved out of the grow tent and into their own space. It is time for the ladies to be switched to a 12/12 light schedule!

Clone Update For @psyceratopsb

The clone post was 5 days ago. They are 8 days into cloning today. They are all still alive but I don't think they have rooted yet.

The reason why I don't think they have cloned yet is because I also have a few cuttings in a mild nutrient solution(not Perlite) and they are still not showing any roots.

Now mind you I am very new to cloning but I think it is a good sign they are still alive.

The area where I have the grow tent has been moved around quite a bit with many things going to the storage unit to make room for the grow tent, future veg tent, and my supplies. Under the supplies is where the clones will be moved until I can get another light and tent.

It wasn't a hard move for the clones. I had to put up a hangar and the 45W Led under the desk. The heating pad was placed under the clones to help with heat.

I think the light will be ok for about a week. I may or may not stop at the hardware store to pick up an led grow bulb to get the clones through to Friday when I can afford the veg tent and light(I have not decided on lighting in the veg tent).

I didn't do many updates on the stress training I have been doing on the plants. I didn't lollipop as extreme as I usually do because I have a huge empty space in the middle of the tent where the nutrient bucket is. I want to get some of the healthy lower stems to grow towards the center of the room and I think they will get enough light to not be popcorn buds. I don't know how successful this will be but I won't know unless I try:-)...(the red arrows are bends in the stems).

The main reason I am switching over to 12/12 now. Sugar Mama(Black Sugar Strain) is two feet tall. I am worried about the height of the light needed for Sugar Mama compared to the other two plants. I have been training the top to go towards the center of the room and if she was straightened vertically then she would reach the two foot mark.

The Steem Og's are not fems like the Black Sugar and grow lower and bushier because of the Indica. I am however very happy about their progress. I just need to turn this over to 12/12 because if the Black Sugar keeps up its pace...then the light is going to be too far away from the Steem OG's. I may even have to buy an LED to supplement the Steem Og's because of the height difference when flowering goes into full affect. It's nice to learn about different strains!

The above picture is of two plants but I wanted to show how much Moody Miranda(front) has caught up to Bigfoot(both Steem OG strain). Bigfoot went through a heavy case of a FIM and a Top after the FIM so she has been a little stressed but oh...those nodes she has coming out of the top.

So, this is the big day.

Switching over to 12/12 and now in a mad dash to keep the clones alive.

All looking nice. Also looking forward to the stress straining as my cupboard which is being prepared will leave me lots of room (and seeds are not that easy to get here).

The stress training could have been started weeks sooner. If you are growing in a small space. I would recommend to start stress training those top nodes a few weeks into the grow. They won't be extreme as mine with the apparent bends because I started late. Early stress training will have a more curved effect.

I plan on using upside down tomato support cones. But since I will most likely also FIM, it may just end up with a wireframe instead if they grow as hoped.

·
·
·

That is a good idea. I want to experiment more in the future and a tomato cage is something I want to implement but SCROG may be the next grow so the net would supplement...but a SCROG net with tomato cage grow would be cool too:-)

Depending on how successfully you FIM’ed most tomato cages may be too small for a good grower. But they are definitely also helpful when wanting a bigger grow rack. Having a base/frame to build only be easier than starting to pull rope in every possible direction you can.

Note that I want to try using the cage upside down. So go wider as the plant goes higher. That mostly because the light would be in the middle and thus stress training would maximize low leaves bottom area, all while less suspending needed as it grows further. Yeah, I’m weird like that.

Those leaves look real nice, I bet it's super exciting to flip them into flowering

It was a very exciting day! Now I just have to wait a few more for results. This will be the period that feels never ending.

looking good! how many weeks of veg was this growth from? it looks like they responded well to the stress. I like to supercrop mine about onve a week in veg. It gets to be alot with over 100 babies currently in veg.

·

100 individual plants? nice one

·

This is 7 weeks. 3 is a task. Could not imagine 100.

They seem to be doing ok, I hope everything works out fine for you. Thanks for the update, bong on bro. :-)

·

They seem to be doing good. The other grow room with the cold nights may have stunted there growth a little. Now I am just checking to make sure they dont hermi. Have my fingers crossed that the Steem Og's are female.

best led grow i see on smoke.io
i think you need little bit more (P) because your plants got to much (N) at the beginning... i think th (N) ovewr fertilazion got the (P) bloked but i see at the pictures you can give now little bit more (P) and a little little bit moe (N)
Peace harimbadl

Thanks for the tips. I will look into it. This is a HID Grow, not LED.

·

ok thanks for info!! nice keep on grownig!

You are very welcome!

I use rock wool cubes for cloning.

·

I use rock wool too but it is usually seeds. Cloning is newer to me but I am trying to save money on seeds. I figured I would try this and if it doesnt work then I will go from seed for the veg plants while these in flower. I think I would do ok with rock wool and cloning but wont know until I try.

wow.... I'm amazed at how much goes into growing. I mean its like all scientific and $#!+

·

There are so many ways to grow but adding tech and utilizing known techniques to help is a no brainer to me!

Of course. Anything that can contribute to the best end result. Right on.
