Today was the day I top a few of my up and coming autos. When I went to cut my northen lights auto from oasis seeds I noticed some weird shit that the stock was hollow and had some white weird stuff in the middle.

Anyone here know what this is and if I should he just chopping this plant down and call it a loss on that 1 plant.

Any ideas from the great growers here would be awesome and much appreciated.

On that note I am going to show off some of the flower that is nearly at its end of life cycle.

I’ll dig back I remember commenting on a post that someone had the same issue. I know there is already a post on the hollow stem.

Here is a post that was also about hollow stem on some AC/DC CBD. Original post by Post by @dedos.pegajosos

Thanks, so it seems it may be a normal thing.

This was first time i encountered it

I personally have never encountered the phenomenon either. It appears to me a normal abnormality? Wow there's a conundrum! Or, we yet have the knowledge on the platform to solve the issue. I'm sure the cannabis plant is not the only plant to be subject to this condition. More research is needed.

Yeah doin some digging around seems really common

As @realkiki85 said nothing to worry about, stems are hollow, it is just that in some strains is a genetic trait that is more noticeable: There are people that say that actually the more hollow they are the better the potency as nutrients reach better, but am not sure if that is an urban legend ;-)

·

Like a fat straw for your McyD's shake or a narrow one?

·

Glad to read I should not worry, She is not back in my tent ready to flower

Still some to go on that NL. All trichomes still seem glassy, and the pistils can still darken a little before flushing time. Depending on the effect you want of course. Time to start watching with the jeweler’s loupe.

·

Yeah, I think I will have to check daily with that plant. Buds have filled out nicely atleast after the ph problem

Nothing to worry. When my Royal Haze snapped, stem wad hollow. It just healed and the rest of the plant was strong and healthy.

·

Awesome, this was the first time I had encountered a hollow stem on a cannabis plant. I mean the plant seems super healthy minus that

Lookin Good 😍😍

·

Thanks. Slowly coming

👊👊

some of my best plants have had really hollow stems. i don't think it's anything to be concerned about.

·

Thanks, It was new to me so had to make sure

All stems in cannabis are hollow, nothing funny there, just keep on being good to them!

·

Awesome, this one was quite hollow guess it is a gene

·
·

It just the way they transport water and nutrients. It's not recommended but try to water your plant and harvest it half an hour later - all these hollow stems will be filled up with water - extra extended drying time. Made loads of mistakes and learned things on the hard way. :)

·
·
·

Yeah I have always been told to harvest after I don't water for a day or more. I try to let them suck all the last bit water out of the soil

Fun fact - when plants struggle to get water crops are much sweeter! So you are boosting your sugars as well!
