Hello again smokians...
For those of you that follow my posts, you know I’ve been battling aphids this year. For you new smokies I have tried a lot of natural ways to keep back the infestation. As I have documented here exclusively on Smoke.io, from trying preventive measures during veg with Neem oil, then introducing some ladybugs in late veg. So far my crop is exploding and is already getting to be too much for me to pick through nightly. So I can see the numbers multiplying exponentially. This can not be...
I’m not new to growing outside so bugs are always a possibility...no, they are a constant variable. I really hate to use any chems, this is the first, and LAST, year I have tried the Neem. No thank you. Actually, spraying this on my wooden fence come flower time will really help mask that skunky funky smelly green shit, as that smell is potent and lingering, the Neem that is.
However, with that said, I WILL use my homemade pest deterant/wash. This is what I used last year and it actually works wonders on its own. With the fact it has Dawn, and Olive Oil, I try to use this wash as a last resort to cleanse the plant. I have used this solution well into flower but try to cut out the cayenne towards the end. After all, this is pepper spray con vinegar(vinegarless), as you will find out if you use my recipe.
2 TBSP Cayenne Pepper 2 TBSP Minced Garlic 6 Cups Water [Bring to boil] [Filter] Add in order using COLD water for mix. 1 TBSP Regular Dawn 1 TBSP Olive Oil [Added at end and then shake well]
I soak the hell out of them at dusk, I mean soak them! Top and bottom, up and down the stem, all over. Notice the suds on the leaves. I will let this sit over night. Then a MUST heavy rinse tomorrow before the sun comes up!
After spraying the plants, I can only locate dead aphids! This is a good sign my mixture was just right.
Until next time Toe Toe Toke it up!
