Amnesia(Hy-pro seeds) Grow diary Part 4 (Organic war aginst Trips)

last month

Start of the 4th-week flowering for setup 1 and start of 3rd-week flowering for setup 2.
I´ve found a little surprise today, a full Trip invasion in one of the setups. Since I am too advanced in the flowering stage whatever I could do had to be as natural and organic as possible, and suddenly I remembered my local grow store telling me about this new line of Vegan fertilizers and organic remedies for pests. Let us have a look at the plants first and after I will talk about those products.

Amnesia Hy-pro setup 1

(8ltr cloth pots, 16 plants x meter, 2 weeks veg)

To the left you can see one of the traits from this strain, a great calyx to leaf ratio that allows light to penetrate even when these plants are very tall, this will allow producing good buds even at the bottom branches, asides that, the ratio will make trimming very easy.

It seems stretching is almost over, still unsure if I will have enough space between the tops and the lights, since next week I will tie them to stakes I will decide then if bringing them to the floor on trays or leave them as they are

Amnesia Hy-pro setup 2

(11ltr plastic pots, 12 plants x meter, 3 weeks veg)

Still is too early to judge the difference between both setups, but I have the feeling it will only matter for the buds in the middle and bottom branches as they are more spaced out and this is allowing more light to penetrate. I guess we will start seeing di8fferences if any in a couple of weeks

Declaring the organic war to Trips

Not impressed when I arrived and found this:

But since I already worked this strains for 6 weeks I had to look for a solution that at the same time is effective wouldn´t cause any harm to humans, and what I´ve found is this two products, part of a line of Organic products from a Spanish company called Excellent Nutrients

Excellent Nutrients is an innovative brand in search of top quality and maximum production. Our formulas have been created and developed by our team of international experts.

We use rigorously selected natural ingredients. We work meticulously until we find the most innovative formula on the current market and thus achieve top-grade nutrients.

Given our knowledge about what the customer wants, we have managed to create formulas that leave no doubt as to their quality and proven effectiveness. Furthermore, they all comply with current regulations so they can be sold commercially as sustainable fertilizers all over the world.

And this is the two products i´ve used:

And this is what the brand have to say about it:

Bryonia Protect

This is a bio-insecticide based on botanical extracts (Sophora japonica, Plukenetia volubilis, Pongamia pinnata). It works by contact and systemically.By contact, it acts as a repellent and has the effect of confusing the insects’ sense of smell.
When applied systemically, it has an invigorating effect on the plant which is then able to protect itself naturally against certain pests. It is a broad spectrum bio-insecticide which can be used for a wide range of species. It is applied both to the leaves and the root system.
Its effect is boosted when applied in conjunction with BRYO ENHANCER.

Bryonia Enhancer

This is a phosphoric soap, free from phosphates. It has cleaning, wetting and dispersing effects. Applied to leaves. It works by contact, cleaning the honeydew caused by certain pests, and the fungi that are produced by the honeydew.
It increases the effectiveness of insecticides that combine with it, due its wetting action. Recommended to be used in conjunction with BRYO PROTECT.

I went for the foliar option and I suppose to use it two times with 4 days interval and once more 7 days after the last take. Will keep you updated on this in the next episode ;-)

The plants are looking fantastic as always except for the minor problem. Thanks for the update mate, bong on bro. :-)

·

let´s see how those products work on the problem ;-)

I liked it, class.

·

Thanks for support mate!

Thrips usually have part of their breeding cycle which includes soil. Like gnats, a thick layer of sand helps quite a bit.

I don't know if it's classified as "organic" where you're at, but I use products with "Spinosad" in them for thrips. Works like a charm. :)

Thanks mate!!! will look into it, so far so good with these two products am trying

Excellent! :)

The important thing is to break their breeding cycle. Eggs laid today will be hatching within the next 20 days, so whatever you've got it needs to be killing them in 20 days.

As long as you've removed the original source of infection, breaking the breeding cycle will completely eliminate your issues. :D
