This is your responsibility on SMOKE.io!

Yo Smokers, I hope you're having a good time around here!

Last few days here, I was a bit less active in posting but I was active in trying to see what this community brings. I was scrolling through latest post trying to see what content our high members are bringing.

I must say that I'm left with mixed feelings but also I'm not surprised at all. You might already know that I'm not going to talk about good quality content here but about the dark side of the blockchain. I'm really glad and appreciative that I saw a lot of good content spreading from art to grow posts, but some content was spam and I wanted to address that here.

It's up to you to tell me if I am strict but I simply don't like shitposts and bad comments. It really annoys me because it's not fair to people who are reading the whole post and writing a meaningful comment. I believe that we must show tough love here and try to teach others what is this blockchain all about and how to be a good smoker.

I already wrote a quick guide on how to be a good smoker but I want to address it again but a bit shorter. There are two things you can do and your time here will be appreciated and you will be respected in the community. Otherwise, you will be left alone, fighting and struggling for every Smoke and eventually realizing that you're wasting your time. Don't do this to yourself!

CREATE GOOD QUALITY CONTENT

This is simple and this is the basics of the blockchain - Create good quality content. I know it's harder for any new user of the blockchain to accept this immediately. I'm new blockchain user but still experienced enough to say that if you're not going to create good quality content, you're simply going to waste your time. You cannot retrieve the time so make sure to think about this a bit more.

This is SMOKE.io and this is a blockchain for cannabis users. Don't get me wrong, I want people to post drawings, poetry, music, sports and many more, but I also kinda like it to be related to cannabis. At least, be high will doing the activities you're posting about :D

What is more important, don't create content that has nothing to do with cannabis. I saw posts related only to cigarettes and I was literally like WTF! I know some of you think that you're lucky that you found a platform in the early stages so now you can get a lot of SMOKE POWER early. But again, I will remind you that creating low-quality content will not be appreciated in the community and you'll waste a lot of your time. It's up to you...

WRITE MEANINGFUL COMMENTS

This can be also translated to don't spam! The blockchain is transparent and anyone can easily scroll through your comment section and see what are you up to. This is like what you say when you're out with your crew in real life. Now imagine that you're saying the same sentence all over again? Would you respect that person? I believe not.

So please, in the name of love :D Stop spamming with meaningless comments. It will just bring you a bad reputation and you it will be hard to go back up again. I bet you would not like to have shitcomments on your posts so don't do it to others. Respect people's time that they're putting into creating a good quality content and the community will respect you.

If you want to help to clean this blockchain from spam, feel free to join Smoke.io Discord server and submit your reports in #abuse-reports. I'm not saying that this needs to be your job but if you stumble upon some really bad content, please report it. It is on us to bring this blockchain up high so let's have a good base and let's grow together in a real way!

Until next time, share some love and SMOKE ON!

If you got anything to add feel free to do it! I hope I'm not strict too much and I believe that we can try and teach anyone who is doing it wrong. If you got some knowledge, always pass it to others!

Sort Order:  Trending

If anyone has too much SP we always have people in #abuse-reports that deserve a flag or two.

We have a list going, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D3ob-gdzQe4VzMHOXYLeDhDn611tjLJoIgXl9Ip5jVM/edit?usp=sharing but there's always new contenders.

Anyone who is not a content producer, and has a lot of SP, I sort of expect them to have a couple flags coming out of their account. I understand if someone's busy with an actual grow or something else that takes them away from the site.

don't spam!

For real, some accounts post a bunch without saying anything new or interesting. If I'm doing it right I might have a root post or two a week, because I understand that the focus of this site is not me. My role will be mostly as a commenter/audience/curator of some of the people doing great things on the site.
For example, if we get that Berner guy on here then I would expect him to shoot right up past me.

·

Well... I got a ton of flags when I started... I was creating a ton of original content, artwork (tests) and such on Zazzle and posting here so I could create links to share on Instagram and Twitter. I am probably on a black list too.

I wish the image upload worked better over here.... I have to still post on Steemit and copy the link to repost here. Causes lots of test posts

·
·

I, for one, love you. <3
I was joking when I called you our Haejin, although more triangles never hurt anyone in their post.

Edit: lol, dude, just noticed you have a 31 reputation, you're higher than me, bro.

·
·
·

Yeah... I’m pretty high man. Great morning coffee and buds. I Love you too... in a Universal Brotherhood of Love kind of way... ha ha.

·
·

My only issue with you was that you at one point posted 16+ times in a single day... lol
That seemed excessive and a bit spammy to me, it's not that the content was bad, it was just that you were posting way too often, I'd see 2/3 posts of yours for every 1/2 of someone else's on the created page.

Now I have no issues, you're not doing anything wrong as far as I'm concerned, just addressed the issue of how often you had been posting, now I see things have changed so I support you. :)

·
·
·

Yeah... I was having major issues posting graphics... I was creating stuff to post and test from different devices. Nothing worked. I still am having the same issue so I have to post everything to Steem then copy and paste over here. It’s a real pain. I hope it gets fixed. None of the Big names will stick around if they can’t post photos of their weed. Maybe it is just with Apple devices ? It’s a lot of extra work.

·
·
·

You are correct though..... I am way too active on here. I need to smoke more Indica and less Sativa. I am learning and experimenting with levels of THC as I go. I will try to simmer down.

·
·

I've been using Imgur for my images. It seems to work pretty well. I just upload to imgur and fish the actual image url out and paste it here.

·
·
·

I've been using Imgur as well, but in my last few posts I don't see all my photos. Tried with image url and markdown link.

·
·
·

Thanks.... will have to try that.

·

Like I discussed with you prior. Will be compiling a list of my own to merge with yours so we have a substantial archive.

I will also keep a running tab in my personal discord, which I will link for others later on and just link in most of my posts in general.

Nice to have partners alongside me in this war on abuse.
Sad we have to even wage one, but hey, fight for what you believe in, right?

·

Glad you made this doc. Could you please add @vaibhav797790 to the list. He has only spam comments.

·

We have a list going, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D3ob-gdzQe4VzMHOXYLeDhDn611tjLJoIgXl9Ip5jVM/edit?usp=sharing but there's always new contenders.

Would it be possible for me to add my flags too?

·
·

as far as I know it's editable to all, if it's not let me know.
We can even debate someone's presence there if we choose, in a way.
Almost like a 'Survivor' voting them off the island.
If you're not already on the discord: https://discord.gg/n6YUeuA
I feel like people should report what they see, if it turns out to be a false alarm we can always call the hounds off later.

·
·
·

Just checked it worked. I will have to hang more on the discord.

·

And I always get flag recently...

·
·

yeah, did you read any of the reasons why?
If all you do is go down a string of posts, comment and then self-vote then I see that as destructive to smoke. At least you've learned to vote for others, I give you that.

·
·
·

Word.

·
·
·

Yea, some people's behavior has shifted for the better I'm noticing. Glad to see even the slightest adjustments. lol

·
·
·

Lesson learned in a hard way... It's not late just right.

·
·

Read the post and you will know why

·

I agree @trees. We can't be lazy and think only about ourselves. I will always report spam because I am so annoyed with it. More and more with each and every day

Agree on the 2 points and really think it's not just here, but also somewhere else as well.

Dang, now I'm thinking if I finish just that, would it be a spammy comment ironically LOL

Nah, you got my point :)

·

Haha, the comment doesn't habe to be long but it has to be meaningful. So it would be ok :)

Yes, I knoe it's not only here but that's why is annoying me more...

I think Smoke can learn a lot from Steemit. In terms of posts with no quality and bid-bots. Therefore I suggest that @smokenetwork or whoever is capable of it creates an account so powerful (1-2 million Smoke) that will be in charge of downvoting posts that has a decent payout but with no quality, and posts which is not Smoke related. That way we can make sure to keep Smoke filled with quality posts.

·

As @skylinebuds said, we cannot give them this power and I am glad. It will show who is here for the best of the blockchain and who is here so he can get a lot of smoke out...

·

Issue with that is it then become a centralized system if the flagging is left yo smoke.network.
We as a community need to flag and end these post.

·
·

Would be awesome with a group of users that every day post a list of posts that should be flagged.

·
·
·

That is an idea. Kinda a blacklist for the day. Maybe today I can get with a couple people and see what we can do

·
·
·

We're working on this ;) Stay tuned :)

·
·
·
·

Let me know! :)

·
·
·
·
·

So I just whipped this up overnight,
http://trees.witness.pw/smoke_payouts.html

Currently spits out the next 100 comments/posts that will be paid out. (dynamically generated when you access the page)

It lists the Author, the comment details (how do I word-wrap in javascript? I'm bad at computer how did I get here?), the potential payout, the voters that gave us that potential payout, and the comment/post link at the bottom (how do I make that clickable? I'm not good at javascript? These aren't my glasses.)

As a community we can work up a 'whitelist' of people to omit from the list to increase efficiency.

Give it time if you open the page and it takes a while, it may have to go through a bunch of blocks before it finds the first comment depending on how active people were a week ago.

I can set the cutoff point to anything, but 100 posts seemed reasonable since I just now made this live. Could make it unending if we chose and then it would keep chugging through blocks and displaying the current status of comments.

I've taken 'witness' to a literal level where I want eyes on as many posts as possible to curb problems.

·

Agree with all my mates below. That would start to centralize things way too much. The community needs to take initiative on that one, imo. The witnesses specifically, as far as I'm concerned. Which we are. Vigilantly. :)

If you see content that's just outright spam, and that's all they post, then just mute them. Your 'latest topics' feed will begin to become free of trash spam.

·

But if I mute them I will just help myself, not the community. I will not see them and they will probably continue to spam. Better to keep them on my radar and possibly teach them how to be a good smoker. It will benefit us all.

Don't get me wrong, I know what you mean and thanks for the advice :)

·
·

True, it means their bad content won't be easily flagged given that I no longer see said content, though they go without votes..

·

Does anyone know how many active users there are on smoke.io ?

i just got here my name is

HolySmoke!

·
·

hey, welcome! I think around 2000

·
·
·

Thank you, that gives me a perspective thanks..

·

i just got here, i'm new to smoke.io; and i was flagged by @skylinebuds in the middle of a conversation; i feel it was unjust, when a warning would have sufficed, i would put the post link here, but i don't want another flag... i know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean much, time will always tell who's who, but what a way to thank someone for giving free grow advice, all i did was ask if he was interested to check it out!! (sigh)

·
·

In the middle of this said conversation you just drop
Screenshot-20181106-130226-Chrome

And then i go on to resd and fine out your new on smoke but on steem for well over a year to know what you did was wrong.

Maybe you could have been like hey man have you checked out my post today.

Now i am new here right in the middle of a conversation.

·
·
·

Ohhh Gosh ! You are soooo offended,

how could i have been so mistaken to think that you liked Cannabis!!!

You are just here because you get a little erection slamming the new guys....

·
·
·
·

@holysmoke if you are on Steem over a year then you should know how the blockchains work. Simple as that...

·
·
·
·
·

if this was steemit it would be perfectly acceptable to drop cannabis related links in a cannabis post.

i just added to his post in a very positive way.. and he thanks me with a downvote... from where i stand you are all petty, and overlooking the obvious..

.i'm starting to get a clue as to how it works now.... So you can go ahead and downvote me too just to be sure.... all the big dogs are doing it.....

·
·
·
·
·
·

It sucks for you. For others, it's a cool place.. Now think about that a bit...

YOU>WE? Nope :D

·
·

That's spam.

·
·
·

pphhhwww.

·
·
·

Has he gone? Is it safe? I'm still shocked this individual coming here, posing as a new community member until they evoke a flag....then start an all out shit-flinging spectacle. Can we ban them? I think you know who I mean ... all over this freakin' comment section

·
·
·
·

More easily muted, like they simply don't exist.

·
·
·
·
·

yes of course ... silly of me
not one to want censorship or central powers on the blockchain, but i do want us to ensure we have means of removing bad actors in the end ....

·

is that all you got!!!

im still looking what to post regarding cannabis. i know later this month, ill be able to post something for smoke.😊😊😊 sorry if i posted something not related to smoke.

·

No problem. Find you niche, as everybody says and promote cannabis

·
·

Thanks i hope when i found it somebody will support hahaha. 😂😂😂

@mrspacely, solid writeup and reminder to create quality content. Hopefully we can set a good example early on. Flagging when appropriate etc. There is plenty of awesome content on Steemit, just not on the trending page. I think we can do better on Smoke. 😀

·

Yes, we need to learn from Steemit and make it better and possibly make steemit better also.. Who knows what we can start here :)

I am against spam. I am not a smoker though, but I agree on the point that no one should spam. There is no sane reason to justify spam.

Thanks for the prompt. Here is my two cents on this issue, from a non-smoker perspective: Safeguarding Smoke Network and Know That There Is A Blacklist

·

Excellent that you wrote an additional post! Imma go read it later, I'm doing some work now :)

Glad to know that someone is trying to keep the Smoke.io blockchain spam free. I always try my best to contribute some value to the Steemit blockchain so I might as well do that here also. I don't post very often but I do try my best to contribute some constructive comments when I find interesting posts. I have also upvoted posts cause I noticed the curation rewards are much higher than upvoting your own comments. I love this blockchain!

·

Nice man! glad to have you here and hear that you're also helping around! Keep it up!

And yes, those shitposters don't have time to read something because shitposting takes a lot of time xD

·
·

Not a problem buddy. I am glad I can help in some way. People dont realize if you put in the effort to make the platform great then it will benefit everyone in the long run. Steemit is currently imploding with spam and perhaps its too late to stop whats going on there but its definitely not too late to do something about spam here. Keep up the positive work!

·

Lmao I just found this on one of the posts. I guess this person did not get the memo on spamming. Thanks for keeping our blockchain spam free @trees ;)

flagged.png

I dont think that you can curb and deal spam, atleast not in these early stages, i mean right now we need people to be active and hope that people who are spamming will lear as it won't bring them rewards. So letting them some time here and learning it by the easier way is better for the community but after certain time, if people keep spamming then should go for the hard way.

Right now, guidance and teaching can help much more then being strict. Just my opinion though.

·

I don't agree. SMOKE.io is a new blockchain but there are other blockchains that we could learn from so we don't have to make mistakes twice. I value one good content creator more over 5 shitposters. That's just me...

I considering myself as a shit poster
I want to be a good content creator And trust me Im trying so hard.
But the topic idea and the basic knowledge on what content will be appreciated is less in my head.
Thank you for pointing out the issues
And wish me luck :)

·

If you don't smoke or don't promote cannabis, it will be a tough time for you here. I know how it feels to post something you're not interested in, so take your time and think what's the best blockchain for your content.

As far as good quality content, take a look at my posts. They always have some picture, dividers, post footer, question, text... I could write what a good content means but in a few days probably...

Comment is the best way to express your own opinion, either to criticized it or agree with it.

·

You can also post. Maybe post is better because it van be bigger and with photos.

Thanks alot for this great post, indeed i was glad to know i found a new blockchain on time but it is unfortunate that i didn't know this, but thankGod i discovered on time and it is not too late for me to start investing much time in creating post. Thanks ones qgain for this eye opener.

·

It's never too late ;) Thanks for reading!

yeah i also started my new theme related to cannabis art ,it's like a new inspiration and i love it

·

Great! I think I need to draw something for smoke just to support it a bit from that side also. I hope zo cstch some free time soon

You are by far too strict. I don't want to see a flood of posts that could be classified as sh*tposts- there are enough other platforms for that nonsense.

·

Nice to hear what you think! As you said, there are enough other platforms for that -.-'

You are absolutely true right, go for what is the best for the platform.

·

Thanks, I hope that I will not be alone :)

Valuable lessons for all.

·

Thanks, glad to share them so that a lot of people don't waste their and our time :)

Hi Mr. Spacely, I am also a newbie here and though am not a user, I see the other side of users here. They are happy and that is the most important thing of all. There are problems everywhere but here...people are happy!

I too have some talent in crafting that I would like to share. Here it is: https://smoke.io/smoke/@sarimanok/the-art-of-cannabis-portrait.
Your comment on this is highly appreciated. Thank you!

·

Ok. But just don't go around telling people to visit your posts. It is spam and people will not like it.

Have a good day

This is why I am now careful in posting my shits because a flag will send chills to my spine. I'd better hodl my shit!
